    Event Intern


    Hanley Wood is the premier media, information, and marketing services company serving the residential and commercial housing and construction industry.  The Event Internship is an opportunity to gain meaningful experience in a corporate event management.  The selected intern will work alongside a seasoned group of event planning professionals and will learn and become involved in marketing principles and practices for a national top 10 B2B media company.  Hanley Wood Interns will be exposed to many aspects of our business and play a meaningful role in our event operations.


    Hanley Wood’s looking for a highly motivated hard working individual who is organized, reliable and passionate about event planning. Work closely with event directors and producers, along with marketers and designers to deliver successful events across the country from conferences, receptions, to mobile tours.     This position will offer 20-30 hours per week pending to start Feburary 2019. Specific schedules are flexible within our core business hours (8:30AM – 5:30PM). 


    Major Job Responsibilities and Related Duties:

    • Administrative and office management support (managing events storage, ordering office supplies, etc)
    • Assist and contribute to event concepts
    • Assist on-site at events based on location and availability
    • Assist and contribute to planning of meetings, events, tradeshows and registration
    • Develop and manage request for proposals
    • Research information on meeting and event venues and vendors
    • Compile and analyze evaluation data
    • Fields general line phone calls, addressing questions as able and forwarding all other inquiries to appropriate staff
    • Participate in weekly team meetings and planning, include note and task follow up
    • Perform other duties as assigned or needed



    • Be a rising junior or senior currently enrolled in an accredited university’s business / marketing program.  Recent college graduates will also be considered for this position.
    • Ability to accurately understand scope of assigned projects, clients’ goals and requirements, and budgets through meetings, taking notes, and asking questions
    • Demonstrated research, writing, and telephone skills
    • Ability to adhere to all deadlines
    • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
    • Strong sense of professionalism
    • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously
    • Organized self-starter with a positive attitude
    • Desire to broaden knowledge of emerging technologies
    • Adeptness using digital technologies to engage with immediate environment and initiate change
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, web browser use, and Google Docs
    • Strong presence on social media platforms including (but not limited to) Facebook and Twitter preferred
    • Must display the maturity required to work in a casual, informal office setting
