    Content Director


    Job Summary

    Hanley Wood Marketing (HWM) is a full-service brand strategy and content marketing agency with more than 30 years of experience serving Fortune 500 companies. The Content Director serves as the creative and content lead—and often the lead writer—on our agency’s brand strategy and content marketing projects. This is a role for an experienced content marketing professional who seeks a client-facing role, thrives on thinking both creatively and strategically, and wants to lead.


    The Content Director is the “conductor” of successful content marketing projects for our clients, ensuring the successful management and execution of deliverables to support that strategy. Content deliverables include email marketing, web pages, videos, social media content, direct mail, and more. This role will work across our agency’s client roster, including a large financial services client.


    Primary Duties:

    • Work with account leads, digital strategists, and our clients directly to uncover opportunities and shape winning content marketing strategies.
    • Manage the organization and execution of strategic brand and content programs.
    • Collaborate with designers, videographers, and others to create high-performing content in the form of email, webpages, social media, direct mail and more.
    • Reinvent and reimagine programs to meet evolving client needs, shifting audience behaviors, and market and technology changes.
    • Manage internal and external creative teams, including writers and editors.
    • Review project work to ensure solutions and quality meet client and HWM standards.
    • Contribute to a strategic and creative environment by bringing new ideas, solutions and resources to the department.
    • Support new business efforts, such as RFPs, new business presentations and marketing resources.

    Secondary Duties:

    • Support and backup other content and strategic directors as needed.

    Experience, Skills, and Talents Required:

    • 5+ years’ experience as a content developer, copywriter, editor, or strategist.
    • Demonstrate understanding of brand and content marketing, including brand guidelines, value propositions, messaging, custom publications and social media.
    • Passion for detail, storytelling and strategy.

    Education and Certifications Required:

    • B.S. or B.A. degree in Marketing, Journalism or English required.
