Job Description

Hanley Wood is currently seeking an entry level Business Development associate to join our DC headquarters. The Business Development associate will report to the Director of Emerging Accounts. This business development role will be responsible for prospecting new business opportunities, managing a current account base, and developing new opportunities within their given territories for revenue goal achievement. They will primarily be selling advertising media packages centered on print and digital advertising, conference and event sponsorships, and marketing services.

 

This individual will be a highly motivated, self-starter able to identify and develop new business prospects from multiple sources. They must have the ability to spend 80% of time on the phone interacting with prospects with the goal of reaching and communicating with the decision makers of prospect companies. Some occasional travel to trade shows may be required, but very minimal throughout year.

 

Responsibilities and duties include: 

  • Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual KPI requirements including but not limited to Total Appointments Set, Average Call Volume per Day, and individual revenue goals
  • Develop new business via telephone using a variety of tools, including online data sources, referral networks, and Salesforce.com
  • Follow up on leads and conduct research to identify potential prospects and close them
  • Work collaboratively with senior sellers within your region to identify and grow client base
  • Manage data for new and prospective clients in Salesforce.com, ensuring all communications are logged, information is accurate and documents are attached to the record.

Qualified candidates should possess the following education, experience and skills: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in tele-sales with a proven track record of success. Media sales experience is a nice plus
  • Ambitious and eager to learn from ground up
  • Proven ability to collaborate within a matrix organization
  • Some knowledge of sales/influencing techniques, deterministic questioning and ability to leverage effective sales techniques across multiple personalities and decision maker levels
  • Excellent technical and analytical skills, with deep understanding of standard office applications and CRM information capture
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to evangelize products externally
  • Strong work organizational skills and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to multi-task and prioritize projects
  • Proficiency in using Salesforce.com or similar CRM platform
  • Ability to effectively communicate with field sales force and executive level management
